Transparent by name, transparent by nature
Earlier this year Affiliate Window announced to its clients it would be undertaking a charitable project, the likes of which the performance channel had never seen. Under the title ‘The Naked Network’ we put forward plans to produce a 2013 calendar that would see senior Affiliate Window employees really throwing themselves in at the deep end in aid of the Encephalitis Society, a charity who has been supporting one of our colleagues.
“When the project group first approached the AW Board with their idea for a charity calendar, we really didn’t believe they would find enough willing participants to get the idea off the ground” explains Mark Walters, Affiliate Window MD. “Asking senior performance marketers to take off their clothes in front of a camera is a huge ask – even for those as enthusiastic and passionate as our staff. However, we have never been more pleased to be proven wrong. Affiliate Window is immensely proud of the ten brave employees who literally bared all to make this concept a reality.”
Without even having seen the finished product, a number of key players from within the industry offered their backing through supplier deals and sponsorship packages. With the help of our partners; printed.com, Vouchercloud, Optimus PM, UK WebMedia, Freemax Media, MyVoucherCodes, giffgaff, Pebble Grey, LOVEFiLM, Golden Feeds and Quidco the calendar went from a clever idea to a working project –one that we were convinced would raise a significant sum for our deserving charity. With the financial backing in place we were able to secure the relevant professionals to ensure the end product was something that everyone involved could take pride in.
“Initially I was naturally a bit sceptical about being involved,” said Nicola Clare, Account Director at Affiliate Window and one of the courageous few to step in front of the camera. “But when the working group got together and we discussed the fundraising potential for such a unique project, I knew I had to say yes and give it a go. We had interest early on from both advertisers and publishers to support the venture which just shows that the industry is ready for it! The photo shoot itself was a bit surreal but far less stressful than I had imagined and we managed to have fun through it all.”
Better still, with the support of the AW Board and our sponsors, we can ensure that every single penny goes directly to where it is needed. Ava Easton, CEO for the Encephalitis Society elaborates on what this means to her team; “We have been amazed at the bravery of the Affiliate Window staff who agreed to be photographed, it’s not every day we find fundraisers willing to bare all in the name of charity. Our thanks go to all those who have worked on the calendar and to everyone who purchases a copy – we guarantee that every penny from sales of The Naked Network will go directly towards the Encephalitis Society’s ongoing research and outreach projects.”
At only £10 plus P&P, this glossy A3 charity calendar is a must-have for every performance marketing desk and office around the UK. Mark Walters concludes; “The final product is a professional and glamorous calendar that we sincerely hope the affiliate community will fully support – in doing so, they will enable the Encephalitis Society to continue their much-needed work in the little understood field of brain inflammation. Many thanks go to all those involved in the project; the models, photography team, printers and sponsors who have all played their part.”
