1 in 6 clicks through handset devices prove we’re in for a mobile Christmas

Written by Lisa Chaikin on . Posted in Mobile

m-commerce-imageIt is widely anticipated this year will be a mobile Christmas. In fact, John Lewis has predicted Christmas Day will see mobile traffic overtake desktop for the first time. Our own mobile stats also indicate mobile activity is ramping up. Assessing millions of clicks and sales from affiliate programmes of some of the largest retailers in the UK, we have seen the share of tablet and handset traffic hit 35% at weekends, with an increasing share of that through smartphones. With one in every six clicks originating from a mobile handset, can you afford not to be mobile ready this Christmas?

  • On Sunday 17th November 35% of traffic came through a mobile device. The iPhone and iPad were neck and neck with 13.4% each.
  • With Cyber Monday (2nd December) fast approaching, mobile will play an increasingly important role in the peak trading period. We expect a significant increase on last year’s 6% share of sales through mobile handsets.
  • Additional mobile peaks are widely anticipated. We traditionally see spikes in mobile traffic at the weekend and last year saw mobile performance peak on Christmas Day and Boxing Day.
  • With sales starting earlier than ever, the connected mobile consumer is a captive audience over the festive break.
  • Mobile optimised sites have increased conversion rates significantly through handsets while also driving up average order values.
  • Average order values through mobile handsets stood at £50 last December. Consumers are widely predicted to spend even more through mobile this year.
  • Affiliate Window is the network with the highest proportion of its mobile activity tracked – standing at 95%. If you’re an advertiser running an affiliate campaign make sure your tracking is in place on your m-commerce platform.
  • With the most comprehensive suite of mobile reporting tools available from any network, we make it easy to monitor your performance by device – from volumes of traffic to conversion rate and EPC by device.
  • Who is currently performing through mobile devices? Our top 20 retailers across mobile devices by percentage of sales are:

Supergames 2013 – All wrapped up

Written by Harri on . Posted in Events

SuperGames_logoJPEGForget the Hunger Games; they paled in comparison to the fierce competition at yesterday’s SuperGames 2013! At Canary Wharf’s Play On Sports, performance marketing’s bravest athletes including Quidco, TopCashBack, the AA, Sky and Buyagift came together to compete and take home glory to their offices. Anticipation had been boiling over in the lead-up to the event with fighting talk in team profiles and gauntlets thrown via Twitter.

Upon arrival it was evident that a lot had gone into the preparation of team kits, including personalised t shirts a la GDM Digital’s Gun, Drugs, Money and the tiger face paint branding VE Interactive’s Team Bosh.

GDM digitalThe tournament kicked off with a bang at 2pm for the five different sports: netball, football, bowls, table tennis and the highly anticipated, dodgeball.

Some heated clashes took place starting with Affiliate Window’s Team AWesome coming to blows with zanox’s Global Destroyers during dodgeball. Sadly Team ‘AWesome’s’ garish orange shirts were not enough to deter the opposition and they were defeated.

DSC_0896Over on the netball court, the tall men of Quidco’s ‘Quids In’ had an unfair advantage over their arch nemesis, and vertically challenged opponents ‘Blaise-In-Squad’ (TopCashBack), thus ultimately storming their way to victory.

Halfway through the day there seemed to be some sure-fire winners but by the end of the tournament some of the losing teams managed to claw their way to the top of the scoreboard.

    The final results were:

    Teams Score
    Guns, Drugs & Money 36
    Zanox Global Destroyers 35
    MYVoucherCobras 33
    Quids In 32
    Found Affiliate Faction 31
    Team Sky 29
    Balls and Bangers 28
    Freemax Media 27
    Team Next Jump 27
    VE Interactive 27
    Fowlers Fireballs 26
    The Adam Buckley Experience 25
    Blaise-In Squad 20
    AAWINers 19
    BAG of the Net 18
    Team AWesome 14
    etail Webstars 11
    Savoo 3

    GDM winners
During the awards ceremony,  the 1st, 2nd and 3rd prize winners were rewarded for their heroic efforts with a bottle of Bertrand de Bessac Champagne along with Gold and Silver medals, worn for the rest of the evening in pride.

After an exhausting 3.5 hours of back-to-back sports, it was time to head to the Henry Addington pub for the after party. War stories were exchanged, wounds licked and large quantities of alcohol consumed to numb the aching muscles.

A big thank you to all of those who came and made Super Games the best one yet! Question is, who will be able to rob Guns, Drugs, Money of their trophy next year?

Here’s some feedback from the players:

The Awin SuperGames was a smash hit, a real fun affair where we all had a ball networking and making new friends was the ultimate goal (I’m out). Many thanks to the Awin crew for organising another fun event. I can safely say that all members of team ‘Found Affiliate Faction’ had a really great time. The setup provides a really laid back approach to networking, and developing relationships with clients and peers. We’ll be back for 2014!Jamie Brady, Found

This was my first Supergames but it definitely won’t be my last! We had a fantastic day competing, and a great evening talking to the other teams over a beer. We were gutted to miss out on a medal and will definitely be back next year to try and get on the podium! -  Fred Cortvriend, Quidco

We’re stiff, sore and bruised all over but it was totally worth it. The competition was fiercely contested with a nail-biting finale: We won our last game of Table Tennis by one point to clinch the title! Thanks to all at Awin for inviting us to such a great event and thanks to the people at Play on Sports for hosting and officiating. We will see you next year to defend our Supergames Crown! – AJ Hill, GDM Digital

It’s a Friday morning and we’ve walked into the office this morning with a sense of pride and accomplishment. It could only mean one thing…We didn’t come last in Supergames this year. In fact, minus the injuries, muscle aches and a few sore heads, we did pretty good! This year’s Supergames was a fantastic event filled will all the highs and lows you would want from any major sporting event. AWIN can guarantee an entry from the TopCashback team again for next year – provided Quidco agree to hire shorter men when entering a team for the netball! – Angie Goodchild, TopCashBack

If you were unable to make it, you can see photos from the day on our Facebook page and follow the conversation on Twitter.

Grand Designs – Affiliate Window Style

Written by Lisa Chaikin on . Posted in Network News

DSC_0866Performance marketing is a meaty business and with the inevitable expansion of our business operation over the past few years, fitting into our existing office became a bit of a struggle.

Slimming down was not an option and so we made the difficult decision to move our technical and commercial operation to a second office space in a land far away (three blocks down the road). Despite this office being a mere stone’s throw away, the separation was taking its toll on both staff and visitors alike.

That all changed two weeks ago when we packed our crates, bade farewell to office number two and moved back into AW headquarters, spreading ourselves across two floors. It was a bittersweet farewell to one of our old pads which had been home for just over two years, but for an ever expanding business now consisting of over 240 people, we are moving on to bigger and better things.

The new layout offers significantly more space for our growing teams (22,000 sq ft), 12 colourful meeting rooms to stimulate those creative processes, a shiny new guest hospitality suite and even a private area for the commercial team to do what they do best.

The vision for our new break area was grand and required the removal of two meeting rooms in order to start with an expansive yet blank canvas. The impressive design paid off, with the final result consisting of a lengthy, modern breakfast bar, perfect for sipping a cappuccino from one of the many Nespresso coffee machines (endorsed by coffee connoisseurs worldwide), vibrant and cosy multipurpose pods for informal meetings, team lunches, or ‘chill out’ sessions, alongside a vast assortment of nouveau chairs and tables.

All this while maintaining the essence and spirit of our former office ensuring we didn’t lose any of its inspiring charm; yes, this means the two orange pool tables remain. Adding to this, our new games room is perfect for fuelling competition with the addition of a brand new ping pong table.

We couldn’t be more pleased with the end result as it now allows us to better support our clients and professional colleagues, with the space to grow our busy teams and foster team building, bonding, and beer fridge Fridays.

Here are some of our favourite construction photos from day one to present.
