It’s A Time For Giving…

Written by Sam Surry on . Posted in Charity

As Corporate Partners of The Prince’s Trust we are always looking for new and innovative ways to support the charity, be it through 10K runs, eBay auctions or even collecting plastic milk bottle tops!

We recently learned that TM Lewin, one of our merchants, have launched The Prince’s Trust branded ties, and most importantly, have agreed to donate £10 from every sale to the charity. With ties being such a popular Christmas gift choice we are delighted by the generosity of the TM Lewin team and have decided to support this campaign in any way we can.

Therefore, as of today, Affiliate Window will be donating the override from every sale of The Prince’s Trust tie back to the charity. We’re also encouraging affiliates to follow our lead and donate their commissions on these products; if network, merchant and affiliate all work together just imagine how much money we can raise for this worthwhile cause!

Our COO, Adam Ross, added; “Affiliate Window is proud to support The Prince’s Trust, who do such excellent work assisting disadvantaged young people in getting back into the working world. We chose this charity because we felt a strong connection with its aims and with this industry’s entrepreneurial background; we hope affiliates feel that same association.

The Trust’s partnership with TM Lewin offers affiliates the chance to lend their hand to a very worthy cause in the run-up to Christmas.”

To further increase sales of The Prince’s Trust ties, TM Lewin have issued a fantastic customer discount code for affiliates to use. This will not affect the amount of money received by the charity, but should drive further interest in these products.

Code: PT20
Offer: Save £5 on every purchase of The Prince’s Trust ties or cufflinks
Expires: 24th December 2009

To activate the deeplink, please ensure you replace !!!id!!! with your unique affiliate ID.

If you are not already a member of the TM Lewin programme but would like to get involved with this campaign you can sign up here. For those affiliates that are happy to donate their commissions please contact Ed Chambers who will provide you with details of how and when the donations will be collated and forwarded to the charity.

We are very excited about this festive, fundraising activity and look forward to announcing the total amount raised in January 2010.

Site Verification Live in Darwin

Written by Lisa Chaikin on . Posted in Network News

site verification 1
Affiliate Window has launched another level of functionality within the Darwin interface. Affiliates now have the ability to verify ownership of websites featured in their affiliate profile through a Site Verification process.

Having affiliates authenticate their sites adds another level of security, ensuring that affiliates only profile their own web-sites. Reassuring merchants of the quality of the affiliate sites promoting their brand and giving a level of comfort regarding the control these affiliates have over the content and should hopefully ensure fewer instances of ‘sign up’ queries.

Please note that completion of this step is optional, however Affiliate Window encourages all affiliates to take the extra few minutes necessary to verify their accounts. There are two simple methods of verification available; see the Site Verification wiki page for details.

Should you have any questions or need any assistance please contact the Darwin team.

UK's First Dynamic Search Widget Available Through Affiliate Window

Written by Lisa Chaikin on . Posted in Network News

prismastarThe innovative new Product Selector tool, designed and built by PrismaStar, is now available on the Affiliate Window platform. Developed in response to feedback from the affiliate community, this software allows publishers to create third party links with a single click.

The AnswerOil® Product Selector is the latest in online product search technology, offering an alternative to the traditional vertical filtered form. The software works by pulling merchant product feeds and placing the contents, along with the attributes, within the tool. Product Selector’s allow web browsers to filter their product specifications with a dynamically updated display of products that meet with their specific criteria. With a simple copy and paste process for affiliates, the application can be integrated in to a publisher website within minutes.

Unlike traditional filtered search, the Product Selector Content Widget has the ability to prioritise search results so that it will never show zero items, instead displaying products or services closest to the user’s defined parameters; you can view the demonstration here. This gives the added benefit of ensuring shoppers are never short of options when at the purchasing stage of the buying cycle. An interactive and well-designed promotional method, these widgets provide content for affiliates whilst aiding customer conversions.

Ennis Al-Saiegh, Director of E-Commerce at PrismaStar added, “The Product Selector Content Widget is an outstanding new tool at the forefront of cutting edge technology in the online arena. The affiliate product selector content widget project with Affiliate Window is an exciting new step forward for us, with the potential to change the way in which affiliates operate in the future.”

To integrate a Product Selector simply log-in to your affiliate account and access Web Services & Tools > AWin Apps; for more information see our User Guide.

Understanding the Voucher Code Maze

Written by Kevin Edwards on . Posted in AWin Advice

As 2009 draws to a close I think any of us who work in affiliate marketing can say with a high degree of certainty that voucher coding has been the most talked about phenomenon of the year.

As a network we’re endeavouring to give our merchants as much information as possible about this whole issue so they can make their own considered judgments about whether they choose to issue codes and if so how best to manage and monitor them.

With that in mind we have produced a pretty chunky case study in conjunction with our friends at vouchercodes.co.uk based on some promotional activity from the past year.

Vouchercodes.co.uk is an instrumental part of the voucher industry and as such we hope the information provided will be of real use to our merchants.

You may have already seen the document we produced but if you’re a merchant or advertiser who’d like a copy then please drop us an email and we’ll send you the link.

Style Meets Substance at Online Fashion Event

Yesterday saw Affiliate Window’s first ever Fashion Focus event; featuring the latest trends and products from 27 high-street fashion retailers. You can view photos from the day on our Facebook page.

The day began with a Fashion Expo where each merchant hosted an individual boutique showcasing their favourite products of the season. Accompanied by fashion affiliates and industry bloggers, the event continued with guests sharing insights on the hottest styles, digital developments within the fashion industry and a discussion panel debating an array of affiliate marketing hot topics.

“Working with affiliates has always been a no-brainer to me, but I feel a lot of people still don’t understand the benefits, or have reservations about how it will work for their brand. Events like Fashion Focus are great for bringing people together so these questions can be answered. Editorial sites can’t survive on advertising alone, so affiliate partnerships have never been more important”, said Gemma Cartwright, Editor of The Nod.

Fashion publishers Skimlinks, OSoYou, and Style Compare gave exciting and informative presentations on what to expect in 2010, including tips for merchants on ways to maximise the benefits of their affiliate programmes.

Esther Wrigley, Affiliate Manager at Boden added, “The Fashion Focus event was not only a great platform for us to meet and discuss ideas with our top affiliates, but also gave us the opportunity to speak with other brands and find out more on what’s working for them. We picked up some great hints and good contacts from the day and hope to implement these to improve our programme on Affiliate Window.”

After a few glasses of champagne and an afternoon of networking, the charity raffle commenced with prizes donated by a number of the participating merchants. As Corporate Partners with The Princes Trust, all monies raised at the event went towards their work supporting disadvantaged and underprivileged young people across the country.

Kevin Edwards, Strategy Director at Affiliate Window continued, “Events like this are vital in strengthening the relationship between affiliates and merchants. By enabling key fashion affiliates to showcase their businesses and plans for 2010 to some of the leading high street and online clothing brands, we’re well placed to ensure everyone is ahead of the curve next year. We’re finding our merchants are increasingly looking for innovative solutions and further engagement with the affiliate channel; Fashion Focus is a fundamental part of facilitating those opportunities”
